Over the past couple of months, we’ve been working on a really lovely project for a customer, Geraldine, who wanted us to create a beautiful bespoke coat for her daughter, Maria, as a surprise gift for Christmas!
… and now the jacket is in Maria’s possession, we can finally share the wonderful result with you!
Geraldine’s mother was Irish and had a shop, here in the city of Plymouth, called The House of Arklow. It was open from 1967 - 1972 and she sold just about anything and everything that was Irish… from Aran sweaters and Dongal tweed garments to tea towels and table cloths!
So, as a surprise to her daughter, Geraldine thought a coat, made with the Donegal tweed fabric that her mother used to sell in her Irish shop, might just make the perfect gift for Maria!
The pattern was the Geraldine’s, but it was missing the hood so Kim worked her magic, as always… and the result is really amazing, and truly one of a kind.
Geraldine also made a beautiful label to go inside, which is pictured above.
We absolutely adored being involved in this incredible project and we’re thrilled to share the beautiful result and this lovely story with you too.
